Exploring the often misused phrase 'Only God Can Judge Me,' this message emphasizes that while God is the ultimate judge, Christians are called to self-reflection and mutual accountability. It highlights the importance of honesty, conflict resolution, and the supportive role of church membership in fostering spiritual growth and community strength.

The Difference between Judgement and Accountability

There is a difference between judgment and accountability—especially within the confines of the church.

Judgement is about forming opinions and evaluations.

Accountability is taking responsibility for actions and their consequences.

As believers we are not given license to sin; we are called to live holy and upright lives, not only to serve as witnesses to the gospel of Christ but also to safeguard ourselves from the dangers and natural consequences that accompany living in sin.

God formed the church for community, accountability, and honesty.

As believers, we must be willing to submit ourselves to this design if we want to grow and mature in our faith.
How do I apply this?

1. I cannot hold you accountable unless you give me permission to hold you accountable. You must be a willing party.
2. When we hold each other accountable, we recognize that we are all sinners in need of God’s mercy and grace.
3.We are called to speak Truth. Don’t confuse the conviction of the Holy Spirit with judgement as some do.

When we experience conflict we must always reflect on ourselves first and then we can be prepared for humble reflection and conversation with others.

Deal with things head on and don’t try to avoid it.

Accountability conversations will be uncomfortable unless we agree together that it is for the best in our relationships with one another and our ability to lead others to Christ.

Final thoughts:
Believers are charged with encouraging and holding each other accountable when we are struggling with sin in our lives, but we are called to do so without burdening each other with ungodly judgment and shame.

This week, let's challenge ourselves to apply these teachings in practical ways:
During the week I will place some devotionals on the church Facebook page. First, if you don’t follow church Facebook page, make sure to do that.

Also, use the Bible app and did you know we have a My Church app now? Church events are updated here and access to the message each week as well.
